How to Use the Psalm’s Player
You have received a tool which will enable you to sing all the Psalms, word for word from the King James Version. Downloaded into it is 17 hours of sacred music. There are peaceful, reflective piano interludes interspersed among the 203 Psalm’s songs. The music begins with Psalm chapter one and runs continuously to chapter 150. The speakers on the Psalm’s player are voluminous and will fill the whole house on the highest volume. The device is powered by either solar (charge for 24 hours in direct sunlight) or USB. The full charge lasts 60 hours! There are three indicator lights to revealcharge status: red=low, orange=charging and green=fully charged. Four bars are also displayed in the window when it is fully charged. Battery charge management with overcharge and discharge protection is programmed in. The Psalm’s player can be charged a 1000 times. It also has a very bright flashlight with different settings. We hired the Digital Bible Society in Conroe, Texas to load our Psalm’s files into this very unique player. They created this machine originally for the mission field, something that can be charged freely by the sun, and played under a mango tree, as a churchservice for an entire village. And that is why the speakers are so voluminous! They also were so kind to us to load on each of the players the entire New Testament. The man who reads the Bible for this sacred resource is the best I have ever heard recorded. You will enjoy it immensely as well.
The following questions/answers reveal the background of the Psalm’s Player:
What is the Heart of Psalm’s Peace? The book of Psalms is the most ancient hymnal on earth. It is in the center of God’s library of 66 books. Besides David there are 7 other known contributors in authorship of this songbook, they are Moses, Solomon, Ethan, Heman, the sons of Korah and the sons of Asaph. David was the most prolific writer. It is written of him, “Who can measure the results of those years of toil and wandering among the lonely hills? The communion with nature and with God, the care of his flocks, the perils and deliverances, the griefs and joys of his lowly lot, were not only to mold the character of David and to influence his future life, but through the Psalms of Israel’s sweet singer, they were, in all coming ages, to kindle love and faith in the hearts of God’s people, bringing them nearer to the everloving heart of Him in whom all His creatures live.” Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 642.
Why is sharing the Psalms in song so personally important? The Holy Bible is the one and only sacred item on earth that is holy … other than the tithe (Leviticus 27:30). What makes anything holy? It is only God’s presence, the presence of Him who is holy and just and good. God’s Word is the cloud of His holy presence which leads His children to the promised land. Jesus said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63 When you listen to God’s word in song format, the melody has a way of becoming a part of your thoughts continually throughout the day. You will go about your work with a song in your heart. The songs you listen to will serenade your activities. They will wash your mind, kind of like a washing machine, going round and round time and time again. Jesus said in John 15:3 “Ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” These songs will resonate your daily activities, cleansing and purifying your day. As we hide God’s Word in our heart we will not sin against Him. The most profound truth is Romans 12:21: “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Many people struggle with sin. The victorious shift of perspective can always be… “Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16. Satan and his evil angels flee where light is flooding. He is seeking to hide this key which every pilgrim on the journey to the celestial city has access to. “Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” James 1:21
What is the one thing I hope you remember from this ministry? I hope they are very excited to have a resource with which they are able to sing any Psalm. As far as I know this resource of singing all 150 chapters of the Bible in sacred song is not available anywhere else in the world. I hope that many parents will use this music very early in their child’s development to be able to help the little ones be filled with God’s Holy Word. An example of a godly person using this method is Moses. In Child Guidance it says:
“Evening and morning join with your children in God’s worship, reading His Word and singing His praise. Teach them to repeat God’s law. Concerning the commandments the Israelites were instructed: “Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Accordingly Moses directed the Israelites to set the words of the law to music. While the older children played on instruments, the younger ones marched, singing in concert the song of God’s commandments. In later years they retained in their minds the words of the law which they learned during childhood. If it was essential for Moses to embody the commandments in sacred song, so that as they marched in the wilderness, the children could learn to sing the law verse by verse, how essential it is at this time to teach our children God’s Word! Let us come up to the help of the Lord, instructing our children to keep the commandments to the letter. Let us do everything in our power to make music in our homes, that God may come in.” The principle that is extraordinary in this passage is…. scripture songs that are taught early to children will be present with them their entire lives to lead and guide. What an immense resource parents can implant in their children when they are very little, when their hearts are open and receptive, truly, as no other time in their life. One mom played Prophets and Kings every night when her little daughter went to bed for thirty minutes (it was on a timer and shut off then). Her young son listened to Steps to Christ every night for thirty minutes too. They are now the most godly children that I have ever seen. They burn bright with love and joy in God with every interaction as young adults. The mom really discovered this method’s effectiveness when her little one could finish the sentences for Steps to Christ as different statements were being shared. What a wonderful surprise for her! Every parent has the privilege of growing this love for truth in their little ones minds. It is such a simple, easy, but very intentional influence to give your children, with eternal results. By contrast, another church member, years before, had shared with me the vast regret they had. Every night, to help their little one to fall asleep, they would put five secular music records on the record player… each one dropping down to keep the baby serenaded. This little baby grew up to be a man who chose as his occupation to be the stage setup for famous rock stars. What a staggering concept unknown to most families, of how vital, how precious the time is, every night, right before a child goes to sleep… it can be filled with powerful godly influences. Angels will use this to set a seal on the hearts of the very little ones.
How do you hope Psalm’s Peace will impact people’s lives (spiritual growth, comfort, learning)? One exciting impact Psalm’s Peace has for those who lodge the 150 chapters of Psalms in their heart is… when they open their Bible to this book, instantly the words just break forth with singing. What an amazing different beauty and interaction with scripture…. the Psalms breaking forth into singing right before your very eyes. Truly that is exactly what the oldest hymnbook in the world, inspired by God, should do!
Who do you see as your primary audience? Christians, Jews, Seventh-day Adventists, Home school, Moms
What challenges or needs do you think this audience has that Psalm Peace can meet? The world is competing for the attention of all youth. Many parents are looking for wholesome media to safely allow their children to use in their free time to grow spiritually and to be a source of relaxation. Parents can safely use this material with no fear of breaking God’s law. Most media is teaching children to lie, covet, take God’s name in vain, kill, commit immorality, put the world before God, dishonor their parents. Many parents allow their children to view even what they consider the safest TV, which though primarily a family movie, comes from the perspective of the world and is still plagued with sin, though in a great degree less than the movies of today. Children easily see the compromise and quickly justify any show as they get older. The alternative is to give them from their earliest years that which is true, lovely, just, pure, of good report, virtue and praise. They will know clearly the difference as they get older. It is the only safe way to go.
How would you like your audience to feel when they experience this music for the first time? I would definitely love for people to be so happy to see a solution for abiding in Christ after they have received this music. John 14:23 says: “Jesus answered him, If a man loves me, he will keep My Word, and My Father will love him and make our home with him.” (RSV) Jesus promises here that if we keep His Word, both He and the Father will not just love us, but make Their home with us. That is the reason we exist!
Can you share the story behind how Psalm’s Peace began and what inspired you to complete all 150 Psalms? My husband and I have been pastoring in the Michigan conference for the last 29 years. One of the church schools in our district had the children memorize a memory verse every week. When I picked up the kids every morning in Pittsford, to take them to school, we would make up a song for the text of the week. By Friday we had it completely ready for their weekly quiz. What was so neat is we could sing the other memory verses as well, one after another, with no problems. That was a very exciting discovery. It was not hard to make the songs, and it was a very functional, useful and great way to spend time with a carload of busy kids! Following this, when we were expecting our third child, I was able to quit my job as a nurse, and had plenty of opportunity to start putting the Psalms chapters to music. First I started with the shortest ones. I put 86 of the shorter chapters to music while my kids were very little. They learned them too. I called my kids “the Psalmsters”. They would receive 5 dollars for every Psalm they could sing with no mistakes. If the chapter had more than 10 verses they would earn $10 dollars. Boy did they love that! We would sing Psalms in the car as we worked in the three churches, preparing and sharing kid’s programs and attending the prayermeetings. We had four New Testaments (which also had the Psalms) on the dash to hand out to use during these car drives to the churches. Just as a sideline, I also would tell the kids that I couldn’t imagine God letting us fly through the dash in an accident over all these New Testaments, and that I believed God was keeping us safe. Hitting deer was common in this area so we needed extra protection. We also lived in the Lake Michigansnowbelt, and drove many many nights in heavy snowfalls on dark on roads filled with slush.
At this early phase, I could not figure out how to manage putting the long chapters to music. When my youngest, Jessica, became a ninth grader, she began putting the 22 songs for Psalm 119 to music. She started with the first eight verses, Aleph, then the next eight, Beta, etc. She received $60 dollars for each song she made in this early time period. (She was able to buy her own car and had a large sum saved when she went to college four years later.) She continued creating the music for all the rest of the Psalms, composing 115 songs for the 64 remaining loooooongchapters. The Lord blessed her richly. She also was given the gift of singing which she loves so much. She became like the “sweet singer of Israel”. All the 203 songs that covered the 150 chapters were completed on July 13, of 2020. Jessica and I were so elated that day! She also learned how to put videography to the music. The videography for all 203 songs was completed on July 4, 2025. The project was 21 years in development at that time, because I had begun when Jessica was in my womb. Jessica has listened to the Psalms before she was born!
What moments in this journey have been most meaningful to you that we should highlight? Seeing Jessica write all of these songs has been very inspiring to me. I had always told my husband early in this project, that someday God would bring someone who could sing all of these songs, and add harmony to them, and make them beautiful… since I personally did not have the special music voice. What I didn’t know was… my little girl who was playing dolls with the neighborhood kids we cared for all the time, the little girl who was cooking in her play house out in the middle of the lilac trees, the little girl who was tumbling over and over in the living room doing back handsprings and cartwheels and the splits…. was the little girl who would grow up and sing all 150 chapters of the Psalms for the world. I had no idea this would ever happen… I would just tell my husband that someday, someday, someone would come along and sing…… and that was her. God is so good.
Do you want to share personal reflections alongside the Psalms? I definitely would like the following texts to be highlighted… There are many texts in the Bible that instruct us to sing the Psalms…
Ephesians 5:18,19 “Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
James 5:13 “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms.”
Psalm 105:1,2 “O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk ye of all His wondrous works.”
Psalm 81:1,2 “Sing aloud unto God our strength; make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.”
Psalm 98:4,5 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the earth; make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp, with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.”
Psalm 30:4 “Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of His and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.”
Psalm 47:6,7 “Sing praises to God, sing praises, sing praises unto our King, sing praises for God is the King of all the earth. Sing ye praises with understanding.”
1 Chronicles 16:23 “Sing unto the Lord, all the earth, shew forth from day to day His salvation.”
2 Samuel 23:1,2 “The anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, “The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and His word was in my tongue.”
1 Chronicles 16:7 “Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.”
Psalm 95:2 “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.”
Psalm 86 “I will sing unto the Lord because He hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:6
Luke 24:44 “These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.”
Isaiah 38:20 “The Lord was ready to save me; therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”
Do you see the collection of Psalm’s songs as more of a resource hub (where people search for specific Psalms) or an experience (immersing in livestream, and journey of learning the entire hymnal)? I definitely think that people will want to learn to sing specific songs. I also know that many will use it as a background to their everyday and learn the entire hymnal.
What do you feel sets Psalm’s Peace apart from other music projects? What is very interesting… is that God put this hymnbook in the Bible, right in front of His daily devotional. At the most there are 31 days in a month. So no matter what day it is, you can look up in the book of Proverbs the very chapter for that specific day. Today is October 29, so by reading Proverbs chapter 29, I am learning this day from the wisest person who ever lived on earth (other than Christ) all kinds of counsel that will help with today’s daily decisions. Having God’s hymnal in front of and next to His daily devotional, in the very middle of His library of 66 books, just seems like something our heavenly Father would do. Here is another example from heaven… that holy songs and holy daily counsel from the holy men of old, inspired by the Holy Spirit, compose worship to God.
